Home Tutor
I am a home tutor specialising in English for KS1 and KS2. I live in Thames Ditton and work with local children who need a little help with all aspects of English.
I also support children with additional educational and behavioural needs including autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and attention deficit disorder.
In addition to tutoring, I run a programme that specifically addresses behavioural issues and helps children to control their emotions and impulses and manage their sensory needs, improving their ability to problem-solve conflicts.
Self-esteem is very important for all of us to succeed and achieve at life; children especially need to be encouraged to feel good and positive about themselves. Self-acceptance and self-confidence go a long way in ensuring that the children face challenges, making ‘marvellous’ mistakes, learn from them and succeed. Focus on their strength and pay attention to what they do and enjoy.
Each child is special and unique in his or her own way. Accept their differences and individuality as it will help them develop their own interests and dreams and they will be encouraged to pursue them.
Developed by Leah Kuypers M.A.Ed, OTR/L, Zones of Regulation is designed to teach children how to recognise, control and regulate their feelings, energy and senses. It "provides a common language and compassionate framework to support positive mental health and skill development for all, while serving as an inclusion strategy for neurodiverse learners, those who have experienced trauma, and/or have specific needs in terms of social, emotional, and behavioural development."

If the Covid crisis has taught us anything at all, it's certainly bought online lessons to the fore. I regularly use Google Classroom or Zoom to teach my children and it's great fun to be chatting online.
I also travel to your home for more conventional one-to-one sessions so choose your favourite location.
I have worked with children for over 25 years in a variety of capacities, from childminding, to running a youth club, to currently working 1-1 with children with additional needs in schools. I also run a children’s pamper party business and forest school and mindfulness camps.
I have two grown up children, one of whom has autism and is an amazing artist currently studying animation at university, the other is a primary school teacher. My husband, who luckily for my businesses, is a web designer and loves to cook - and let's not forget my two cats.
I love being next to or on the water and love all food, but not so much the cooking part!! I like decorating and upcycling furniture and going on bike rides.
